Polystyrene-Butadiene Rubbers
Here are a number of slides showing the information that can be obtained from high resolution 1H process NMR spectra taken at 57.3 MHz
These samples represent finished polymer in hexane solution. The quality of the hexane changes in the process as does the absolute solvation ratio. This means that chemometric approaches will have a difficult time performing these analyses. The advantage of the process NMR is that the olefin and aromatic regions of the spectrum are distinct and the intensity of these groups can be used to directly measure :
- monomer ratios
- internal/terminal olefin ratios
- residual olefin content
- hydrogenation level
- polystyrene block percent
